I am Jane Arleth dela Cruz. I am PhD Candidate at Radboud University in the Netherlands. My PhD is in Natural Language Processing and Explainable AI. My PhD project is in Interpretable Information Extraction for Disaster Relief. I am one of the PhD’s working in the NWO (Dutch Research Council) - funded project, InDeep: Interpreting Deep Learning Models for Text and Sound, and I work closely with our industry partner, the startup FloodTags. I am supervised by Iris Hendrickx and Martha Larson. I am currently a member of the Radboud Center for Language and Speech Technology, AmsterdamNLP, SIKS (Netherlands Research School for Information and Knowlege Systems), and the ELLIS Unit Nijmegen.
Previously, I was a Data Scientist in the Philippines’ oldest conglomerate, Ayala Corporation , where I applied analytics methods, data science and machine learning best practice to solve complex business problems and to help in data-driven corporate decision-making. I have had valuable data science and software engineering work experience from SAS Institute, the leader in analytics and from my international internship experiences at CERN in Switzerland, Weathernews Inc. and Nara Institute of Science and Technology, both in Japan. I am a highly competent individual able to work both individually an with a team.
I am passionate about solving problems and doing research. In my free time, I do resistance training at the gym, play table tennis, read books, and hang out with friends.
